Time for a Change

Digital ImageDigital ImageThere’s nothing wrong with this blue and red small-scale floral wallpaper. It’s in good shape, and is classic enough that it’s still in style. But, after 16 years, the homeowner was ready for a change.

The new yellow, gold, green, and grey floral pattern with parrots was a fabulous update! It also is a classic pattern that will not go out of style. The last photo shows the view out the window of this master bathroom. You can see how the color and theme of the new wallpaper blends seamlessly with the green pasture outside the window. The homeowner loved it!

In addition, the paper was lovely to work with, one of my favorite types – a raised ink on paper (not vinyl) and pre-pasted – and will hold up for a long, long time. This wallpaper pattern is by Ashford House by York Wallcoverings, and has a coordinating pattern, similar but a slightly smaller scale and without the birds, which was hung in the potty room.

The paper was bought at a discounted price from Dorota Hartwig at Southwestern Paint on Bissonnet near Kirby. (713) 520-6262 or dorotasouthwestern@hotmail.com. Discuss your project and make an appointment before heading over to see her.

Pearlized Gold & White Stripe Glam up a Hall Bath

February 6, 2014

Digital ImageYou’d never believe this is a bathroom used by toddler children. It’s glamorous and sexy.

The wallpaper is a pearlized gold-on-white stripe, and is printed on a non-woven substrate. Manufacturers use these to make the wallcovering more easy to remove down the road. In addition, this paper is pre-pasted, which eliminates messy and time consuming pasting of each strip. It was pliable and nice to work with – although there was a wee bit of shrinking and gapping at some seams.

The paper is by York Wallcoverings, in their Ashford House collection. It was bought from Dorota at Southwestern Paint, who got this family a good price. Call before heading over – (713) 520-6262.

Cute Paris Scene in a Breakfast Nook

February 15, 2013

Digital ImageDigital ImageParlez-vous français? Here’s a cute wallpaper pattern I put in a small breakfast nook today. Beautiful to work with, and holds up well.

This is the third time I’ve hung this pattern, each time in a different colorway.

It’s York’s Ashford House “Très Chic” collection, pattern BL0436.
