Accent wall primed and ready for wallpaper.Finished! The pattern is nicely centered on the wall, both horizontally and vertically. I love the way the colors in the wallpaper work with the moss green in the floor tile. To the left, the wall continues into the bathroom. The homeowner wanted the wallpaper in the laundry area only, and not in the bathroom. We decided it made sense to stop the pattern at the edge of the door molding, and in the short 5″ high area over the door. At first I trimmed the left edge of the strip vertically the same as the design that was running down along the side of the door molding. But I didn’t like the little triangles of background off-white against the color of the wall paint (not shown). So I got creative and cut the paper off along the zig-zag lines of the wallpaper pattern. This way, the transition looks a little more planned and logical.I told the mom that it looks like her kids took finger paints to the walls!Manufacturer is Ottoline . This non-woven material had body, but was flexible and soft. It was a delight to work with. I chose to paste the paper , but you can install this by the paste the wall method, too.
This pattern was used in the sink room. And this companion pattern went in the wet room – tub & toilet area.I love how the two wallpaper designs work together, and add more interest to the bathroom than using the same in both areas.
I hung this cute wallpaper pattern back in 1996. It was perfect for a young family.Well, the kids are grown and out of the house, and Mom wanted a more mature update for what will become the guest bathroom. Companion patterns used in the sink room and tub room.Much more sophisticated, yet airy and fun. The cabinets were painted dark blue to coordinate and accentuate the wallpaper. The paper has a very slight raised texture.Hmm. Somehow the Scott brothers got upside down. You will recognize them from HGTV. The paper is by A Street Prints, and is a thin vinyl on a non-woven backing. It was a dream to work with. It will hold up well in even a humid room, and is designed to strip off the wall easily and in one piece when it’s time to redecorate.
Flower nicely centered over the sink and light fixture. Close-up shows “etched” effect.
I have long wanted to hang this classic “Summer Lily” design by Cole & Son. C&S may be a British company, but to me, this pattern evokes deep in the Louisiana bayou.
The pattern has a strong vertical lift, and a lot of visual “movement.” In this powder room with 10′ ceilings, it makes a dramatic impact!
It’s printed on a non-woven substrate, and can be hung with the paste-the-wall method. But I opted to paste the paper, because that makes the material more malleable. And, also, in rooms like a bathroom – how can you “paste the wall” when there is a toilet in front of it? ! 🙂 🙂
The home is in the Heights neighborhood of Houston. It’s a busy young family with three school-aged kids and a number of furry pets. And – yes – the three girls helped pick out this paper!
I hung this wallpaper about five years ago in a guest bathroom in the Southside Place / West University neighborhood of Houston.
Except for a little wear and tear from the kids throwing around toothpaste and shampoo, the paper itself is tight to the wall and in perfect condition.
But the homeowner has grown tired of it. Check back tomorrow to see the new pattern and update.
