The Rivets pattern by Phillip Jeffries is pretty popular in the higher-end market (with lots of knock-offs by less pricy brands). It’s a fairly fine grasscloth with a handsome cross design made of 3D “rivets.” The rivets are made of something like vinyl, and are somewhat difficult to cut with a razor blade or scissors. Thank goodness they are not made of real metal!

I hung this in a small vestibule that leads to a powder room in a home in River Oaks (Houston). When you walk in the front door, this is the first thing you see, and it makes a stellar impression.

This wallpaper was bought at below retail price from Dorota Hartwig at Southwestern Paint on Bissonnet near Kirby. (713) 520-6262 or dorotasouthwestern@hotmail.com. She is great at helping you find just the perfect paper! Discuss your project and make an appointment before heading over to see her.

Grasscloth on a Bull-Nosed Arch

April 2, 2014

Digital ImageThese bull-nosed edges and arches are popping up in many new homes these days. They are a LOT harder to cut wallpaper around, as compared to a squared corner or edge. Compound that with textured paper (see 2nd photo), and it is a real bugger bear.

It took me a day and a half to hang the grasscloth in this dining room, and several of those hours were devoted to covering and trimming the paper around two of these bull-nosed arches.

It’s the first time I’ve worked with such a thick and nubby material on these arches, and I have to say that I’m pleased with how well they turned out.

This warm hot chocolate-colored grasscloth is by Phillip Jeffries and is called Juicy Jute. It was bought for less than retail from Dorota at Southwestern Paint in Houston. CALL BEFORE HEADING OVER TO SEE HER (713) 520-6262.
