Networking & Referrals, Wallpaper & Drapes and No-See-‘Em Players

March 11, 2013

I was just contacted by Susan Kostelecky, my favorite person for making drapes, bedding, pillows, and the like, of SK Designs, . She wanted to tell me that one of my wallpaper clients had had her make drapes for the dining room I papered a few months ago.

I’m happy when I can direct one of my customers to a good, reliable, and honest contractor or craftsman. What’s particularly funny in this instance is that (except for me and the homeowner) none of us has ever met any of the other people involved!

Susan and I have a wonderful relationship, but we met on-line and have never met in person. Susan did this whole job also without meeting the homeowner in person. And the homeowner has an interior designer brother in California who helped with all this (both the drapes and the wallpaper), and he did his part all long-distance, too.

Here is the story (with photos) in Susan’s words, on her own blog:

Coincidence of the Day

August 12, 2012

My favorite drapery (and other home sewing needs) gal, Susan Kostelecky, was reading my blog the other day. She e-mailed me with her own “Small World” coincidence…

I blogged about running into the lady painter, Gregory, down the street from a friend’s house here in Montrose. Well, it turns out that Susan knows Gregory – Gregory has painted Susan’s house, and many others in the neighborhood of Garden Oaks.

Small world!

Incidentally, if you are looking for custom made drapes, bedding, or other fabric projects around the home, please do contact Susan. She told me about some recent projects in really expensive homes that were major cool, and she was quite proud of the outcome. But I want to let you all know that she does beautiful work at reasonable prices for us REGULAR FOLK, too!

I can also connect you with Gregory, if you are looking for a good painter.
